The Frederick C. Robie House (1908) is a fine example of what became known as Prairie style architecture. The landscape of the American prairie is mirrored in this style by low horizontal design, open interior spaces and deep cantilevered eaves, made possible by long spans of structural steel framing. Wright integrated local brick and limestone with broad panels of art glass that further reflect the prairie theme. With a century of age, the Robie House still bears a strong modern appearance.
