This epoxy design on top and stainless card case was adapted from Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. The hotel was built in 1915 and the Annex was built in 1919.  The hotel was demolished in 1968 but the entrance, lobby and pool were reconstructed at Meiji Village near Nagoya, Japan, 1976. The Annex was demolished in 1923. The hotal was known for its floating foundation and steel-reinforced construction permitted it to survive with little damage, the great Kanto earthquake of September 1st, 1923, the day of the hotel's completion ceremony.
